with alcohol on her breath

expects an empathetic ear
for her truck troubles
long bed shot up
in five points

peers wish
she'd been fucking
her latest pickup
as shots tore through metal
and flesh

rather than
flaunt indiscrete consultations
with Mary from intake
behind closed doors
tales of her strap on
kept in the drawer next to the stapler

an appointment doesn't mean
the client can't wait
on a chair outside
until she comes
in then out of her office

she notices glares
awkward silences
as she enters a room
self righteous bastards
deluded charity cases
lost lunatics or lazy

no fear of the talk
behind her back
jealous co-workers
can't take her down
make her pack

merit has no value
she lowers the bar
so managers go far

meet their needs for more
more employees
more supervision
more money

she chides
I didn't create this job
this situation
If you're so great why aren't you in charge?

they have no answer
slackers too busy helping
others and themselves
to do their homework first
before applying and accepting employment
in a non-profit
with low morale and high turnover

she won't leave on her own
so give her more money
pay off her house
take off her blouse
make her come clean
or continue to take it
straight up the ass
sustained by
stiff smiles
