Revolutions
The immensity of space
to members of a tired race
who look up from sleeping
beneath moon cratered face
seems distant from daily chores
grinding them down
faces drawn into frowns
scarring children's psyches
like birthday clowns
spinning through galaxies
whirling world seems still
grains of sand drop
from an hour glass
etched with emotional acid
bleeding from souls
space stretches then bends
upon itself
gravity waves
hello seems lost
amid the twinkling stars
my breath fogs my glasses
I peer into the telescope
searching for planets first
whose brilliance eclipses
light from a million suns
I lie on egocentric world
with my lone star satellite
optics dispel the illusion
microwaves, radiation, light
red shifted movement
away from the center
a primeval atom
dense, hot, mass
goes bang
earthly existence
a confluence of factors
precisely placed distances
substances mingled
our Goldilocks complex
will come back to haunt us
if we tip the earth
off balance
in our stumbling search
for all that's just right
